Norwood man charged with assault

EMC News -Havelock - A Norwood man faces five charges including assault with a weapon following an incident at the Quebec Street business in Havelock.

Peterborough County OPP say the suspect was involved in a verbal altercation with the business owner which escalated. It is alleged the suspect then reached across the counter, grabbed the victim and attempted to strike him. The suspect then threw an object at the victim which missed him.

When officers arrived the suspect refused to co-operate with them and resisted arrest, said OPP Senior Constable Iain McEwan.

Charged with assault, resisting arrest, two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death, causing a disturbance and assault with a weapon is Garth Lynn Hay, 55, of R.R. 1, Norwood.
