EMC Sports -Norwood - The Norwood Figure Skating Club is going Hollywood. The 81-member club will bring the best of the silver screen to the ice February 19 during its "Afternoon at the Movies" carnival that will feature an array of dazzlingly colourful routines celebrating famous movies like Ghostbusters, The Little Mermaid, Madagascar, Alvin and Chipmunks and The Bee Movie.

There will also be brilliant exhibitions from senior and intermediate skaters showcasing their solo routines and guest appearances by the award-winning Crystal Blades and Royal Blades synchro teams from Peterborough.

The carnival would not happen without the support of local organizations and businesses and the tireless voluntary efforts of skating families, says Bernadette Vanderhorst.

"It's terrific when everyone gets involved and works together to make the carnival a success," Vanderhorst said.

The carnival is a highlight for the club's skaters who enjoy showing off the skills they have learned through the season, she added

There will be a 50-50 draw as a baked goods table at the community centre.

Tickets are $6 each for adults and $3 for children. Local elementary school kids will get a ticket at their school this week for free admission when accompanied by an adult.
